The Coach House
THE COACH HOUSE is a shop and coffee & tea room run almost entirely by volunteers, supported by a full-time manager. Downstairs it now has a fair trade deli which stocks a wide range of wholefoods and speciality foods. Our policy wherever there is a fair trade version of a particular item we will stock it. We like to buy local, organics, animal friendly and fair trade products (LOAF!). We also carry an impressive range of fairly traded crafts, jewellery, accessories, toys, stationery and books. Take at look here! And we have a well-stocked second hand book cabin.
It is an associate member of the British Association of Fair Trade Shops.
It stands on the A807 between Milngavie and Kirkintilloch and is open every day except Monday from 10.30am to 5pm. It is also open on public holidays except Christmas Day and Boxing Day.
10 years ago the Coach House was approached by a jam factory in Swaziland to imports its jams, marmalades and sauces. This gradually grew into a bigger business than expected and in 2009 we set up a new company JUST TRADING SCOTLAND .
The Coach House also houses a branch of TOOLS FOR SELF-RELIANCE , an organisation which refurbishes tools and sends them out to partners in Africa.
